Laser Skin Resurfacing

Laser skin resurfacing is designed to reduce facial wrinkles, scars and blemishes.  Advanced laser technologies have given providers a new level of control in laser resurfacing which allows extreme precision, especially in delicate areas.

Laser skin resurfacing can improve minor facial flaws, such as:

  • Fine lines or wrinkles around or under your eyes, forehead or mouth
  • Scars from acne or chickenpox
  • Non-responsive skin after a facelift
  • Aged or sun-damaged skin
  • Liver spots
  • Improve your complexion if you have yellowish or grayish skin tones
  • Warts
  • Birthmarks such as linear epidermal nevi
  • Enlarged oil glands on the nose

How does laser skin resurfacing work?

It’s all about using beams of light. Your licensed and certified provider uses the laser to send short, concentrated pulsating beams of light at irregular skin. This removes unwanted, damaged skin in a very precise manner one layer at a time.

The laser beam used in laser resurfacing removes the outer layer of skin, called the epidermis. It simultaneously heats the underlying skin, called the dermis. This action works to stimulate growth of new collagen fibers. As the treated area heals, the new skin that forms is smoother and firmer.

Laser skin resurfacing’s targeted approach means there are fewer problems with hypopigmentation, or a lightening of skin for procedures such as laser acne scar reduction.

Ablative Lasers vs. Non-Ablative Lasers

In general, laser resurfacing treatments fall under one of two categories: ablative lasers and non-ablative lasers.  Both ablative and non-ablative resurfacing can give you dramatic improvements, but they do differ significantly in the final results they produce.

Ablative laser treatments are more invasive, but produce the best clinical results. They work by vaporizing the outer layers of the skin. This process causes the skin to heal and restructure, and increases collagen production.  Ablative lasers are great for treating visible signs of aging and the results generally last for 1 to 5 years. They can also be used to treat acne scarring, pigmentation irregularities and unwanted lesions.  It is important to note however, that ablative lasers present a longer recovery and a higher degree of risk than non-ablative lasers. Most patients require 1 to 2 weeks of recovery time. You should consult your laser provider to understand potential risks associated with ablative procedures.

Non-ablative laser treatments are far less invasive than ablative treatments. They work by heating up the targeted tissue, without actually destroying it. This process stimulates your body’s collagen production to fill in unwanted skin imperfections such as fine lines or wrinkles.  Because they do not resurface the skin as invasively as ablative lasers, multiple treatment sessions will be necessary to achieve modest clinical results. However, patients benefit from almost no downtime and the risk of undesirable side effects is greatly reduced. You should consult your laser provider to understand potential risks associated with non-ablative procedures.

Vessel and Pigment Clearance

For many people, looking great is a simple matter of skin renewal treatments for pigment and vessel clearance to reveal clearer, more attractive skin. Palomar has a treatment for pigment and vessel clearance that’s fast, easy and well-tolerated. Palomar uses the power of pulsed light and lasers to strategically clear vascular and pigmented lesions. The secret of our pulsed light’s performance lies in our dual filter technology that delivers optimally filtered wavelengths of pulsed light, for results as good as or better than those of competitive single-application lasers.

Laser Scar Reduction

Acne scars and surgical scars may be a cause of emotional and or physical pain and can affect quality of life. In severe cases, scars can even limit a person’s mobility.

Invasive surgical scar reduction procedures can be painful and have a risk for complications. Laser scar reduction from Palomar® offers a noninvasive solution that uses fractional laser technology to deliver rapid, reliable scar reduction with less risk, less pain and minimal downtime.

Our fractional laser technology is the driving power behind our acne and surgical scar reduction procedure. We use pulses of laser light to coagulate scar tissue and trigger healthy new tissue to form in clients’ skin.  Healing time is minimal, the risk of infection is reduced and little to no pain is felt.

Laser scar reduction with Palomar is appropriate for use on all skin types, making ours the preferred method of scar reduction for excellent clinical outcomes.

Laser Treatment for Stretch Marks

Millions of women have stretch marks, which occur normally as a result of puberty, pregnancy, hormonal changes and weight gain. This fact does little to alleviate the embarrassment that most women feel at the appearance of these unsightly striations on their skin.

Until now there were few options for stretch mark treatments. Since the U.S. Food and Drug Administration cleared Palomar’s fractional laser treatment for stretch marks, practitioners now have an excellent aesthetic alternative for their clients.

Palomar’s fractional non-ablative skin resurfacing laser helps minimize the appearance of stretch marks with little to no downtime. The Lux1540 laser hand piece can improve the unsightly color and skin texture associated with stretch marks, leaving clients with smoother, better-looking skin.

Photo Facial Rejuvenation

IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light. Also known as a “photofacial” treatment it delivers broadband light through the skin for Skin rejuvenation. IPL helps restore a youthful looking skin intended for photo aged or sun damaged skin. It helps decrease facial redness, lessen the appearance of pigmented spots, help improve acne, reduce pore size and improve texture and fine lines.
IPL can eradicate red facial veins & flushing, improve acne rosacea, treat irregular pigmentation, dark sun spots, and reduce fine facial lines.
